Petrolheads all around the world have ogled at many futuristic concepts in various auto shows in the past which were meant to be signs of where a car company is headed.
Unfortunately, hardly any have made it to production and even if some have, its never been the complete car but certain features of the concept that make their way into other newer models of the company’s cars. So, they have now grown to look at concepts as a mere fantasy without the hope of them turning into reality ever!

Hence, it came as a big surprise when Jaguar announced that it will indeed take its very futuristic concept, the CX-75 which the company has showcased at various auto shows, to production.

Some of the stunning highlights of the futuristic CX-75:

  • 0-60 mph in less than 3 seconds.
  • 0-100 mph in less than 6 seconds.
  • top speed in excess of 200 mph.

  • True-to-concept, lightweight, all-carbon-fibre chassis.
  • Ground breaking co-operation with William F1.
The C X-75 showcases the cutting-edge design, new and intelligent environment technologies and motor sport inspired performance.

The engine’s compact size allows it to be mounted low in the car for optimum weight distribution and to retain the concept’s stunning appeal.
Design and innovation of the C X-75:
  • The simple tubular fuselage exterior shape of the car has been achieved without sacrificing on the aerodynamic efficiency.
  • The C X-75 tailors itself perfectly to the driver thanks to an adjustable instrument binnacle, steering wheel and pedal box.
  • Capable of hitting 0-100 kmph in 3.4 seconds, 80-145 kmph in 2.4 seconds and a top speed of 330 kmph.
  • Fully charging the C-X75 from a domestic power supply takes 6 hours and allows the car to run with zero tailpipe emissions in electric only mode for 110 kms (68 miles).
  • 2 x 70kW (94 bhp) micro gas-turbines and plug-in Lithium-ion batteries provide power to four independent 145kW (195 bhp) electric motors which drive all four wheels.
  • An underbody Venturi system incorporates a movable aerofoil and directional control of the exhaust gases to provide maximum downforce without the use of spoilers.
  • Explores the outer limits of Range-Extended Electric Vehicle technology with CO2 emissions of just 28 g/km and a range of 900 km (560 miles).
Jaguar continues to develop the use of the micro-turbine technology that was showcased in the original concept C-X75. Jaguar’s parent company Tata has taken a significant stake in Bladon Jets, and will develop this very advanced technology as a medium-term aspiration that will play a part in Jaguars of the future.

Jaguar confirmed that it will produce 250 exclusive units of the C X-75. The prices of this hybrid supercar concept are expected to start at ₤ 700, 000.

If this supercar continues to attract the attention that it has done so far and proves to be a success, this could well be a start of a whole new generation of supercars and that could be a great news for petrolheads who feared that supercars could be victims to the protests of the green brigade and that the Veyron could well be the last innovation that we would ever see.
