Renault India, the fully owned subsidiary of Renault s.a.s., unveiled its third offering in 6 months, premium compact car – the “PULSE” in India. The PULSE is the company’s third launch following the launch of the premium sedan FLUENCE in May, 2011 followed by its second offering the luxury SUV KOLEOS in September, 2011.

Renault India plans to introduce five cars in the Indian market by end - 2012.

The PULSE is powered by the K9K engine. Renault claims that  the K9K engine ranks among the best-in-class in terms of fuel consumption and performance. The company also plans to  start the localization of the K9K engine family in India at the Alliance factory located in Oragadam in the outskirts of Chennai.

Renault plans to cater to a larger customer base with this latest offering.

The PULSE is designed for the rapidly growing Indian premium compact car market and sports a dynamic design with advanced features such as the smart access key which enables the car to be opened and started by just pushing a button or the mirror that automatically folds when the door is locked that helps position it at the top - end of the A-B segment.

The PULSE was designed by Renault’s Design Center in Mumbai and will be manufactured in the Alliance’s plant in Chennai, which will also manufacture the engine. The plant complies fully with Alliance quality standards and its production management system based on mutual knowledge-sharing and the best practices of both Renault and Nissan. Products by both companies can be seamlessly combined on the same
assembly line. By using Nissan’s existing V platform, Renault has been able to reduce development costs and lead times substantially. The PULSE is thus a prime example of the synergies generated by the Alliance.

The Renault PULSE goes on sale on India in January, 2012.
